How Does Suction Cupping Work?
The technique of cupping uses vacuum suction in a suction cup on areas of the body for therapeutic benefits. Cupping is normally used by filling cups with heated air and then inverting them on the skin. This creates a vacuum effect as the air begins to cool when the cup is adhered to the surface of the skin. This technique uses a low suction pressure to expand tissue, which works as a vasodilator to relax muscles underneath the skin.
The suction cups can be used all over the body, and they are best shifted and manipulated after 5 to 10 minutes of use. It is also ideal to use oil as a lubricant on the skin before the application of the cups to create a tighter seal and also slide the cups during the therapeutic treatment.
The more modern cups now available can be evacuated mechanically with a hand operated pump. There are cups of varying sizes often used to treat different disorders in the body, especially on nodal sides for immediate relief.
The massage suction cups use a vacuum pressure on the surface of the skin by manually moving the air with the suction gun. This is different than a massage, which uses positive pressure, and massage suction cupping provides the same benefit through the use of negative pressure. Instead of pressing down on the tissues of the body to treat muscle pain, suction cupping will pull the body tissues outward in the form of a reverse massage.
This is a highly effective treatment that can also be used with the magnetized massage cupping sets for advanced relief.
This is the opportunity to use modern technologies within any beauty or massage treatment to enhance the therapeutic results of the client. Massage suction cupping will work to effectively treat stubborn and chronic muscle pain with reverse pressure by stimulating muscle tissue.
